what this means
You are free to use all materials (such as articles, including text and images, tools and research results) for any purpose as long as you are not selling it. In fact, we recommend using them to educate yourself or your team to get to know more about cognitive engineering and human-centered design.
The only exception for this rule is higher education (such as university courses): if you are a lecturer in an university, even though technically you are getting paid for compiling course material and holding a lecture, we are glad if you use our materials to do so. We would also be glad to hear about your course and how you use our articles and tools.
You are allowed to modify anything (but if so, mark it as such) but you still need to attribute neucorti as the original author.
What you are allowed to do
- Read and share our articles and use our tools both in personal and business environments
- Use any material to educate yourself or your colleagues
- Create course materials (such as slide decks and PDFs) for university courses (if you attribute neucorti properly)
- Share our articles in a conference or meetup (if you attribute neucorti properly)
What you are not allowed to do
- Copy these materials to behind a paywall and charge people to access them
- Offer paid training services building upon these materials
- Use these materials without attributing neucorti as the original author
Why?
Our work serves a single purpose: educate people to make better digital products. We believe using human-centered methods is beneficial for both the business and the end user (both employees and customers), so we do not wish to limit the sharing and use of any of our materials.
If you wish to use materials for anything not outlined here (or something specifically not allowed), contact us and we will try to get to an agreement beneficial for both parties.
